DISY and DIKO are paving the way for ELAM and fascism so that they – now officially –  may join the government

With their interviews published today in “Kathimerini” newspaper, the President of DISY Annita Dimitriou and DIKO’s Chrysis Pantelides are clearly opening the door for official cooperation with far-right ELAM with regards the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives, with the obvious ultimate goal being the 2028 presidential elections.

This call for forging cooperation with ELAM that was issued by DISY and DIKO marks a pivotal and dangerous moment for the country.  Without any shame, they are paving the way for the far right and fascism to enter, now in an official capacity, the administration of the country.

This development confirms two things. On the one hand, that the leaderships of DISY-DIKO, in their quest to gain power, do not hesitate to even flirt with neo-Nazism.  On the other, this confirms that ELAM itself was and remains the reserve force of Christodoulides, DISY party and the establishment that is plundering the country.

For AKEL, it’s quite clear. This collaboration they are forging is, in reality, the front of the banks, big business and the Christodoulides government, with AKEL, the Left, and ultimately society and its rights as their target. This is the “stability” they promise: their enduring arrogance and their endless feasting at the expense of society.

AKEL addresses an appeal to all democratic forces in Cyprus to take action to defend the democratic freedoms and social gains of our country and people. A vote for AKEL- Left -Social Alliance, is what can block their path and thwart their plans. May 24 is the decisive moment to do so.
