AKEL requests the submission to Parliament of the conclusions of the criminal investigator Elias Stefanou on the black spy van

The Parliamentary Representative of AKEL, Giorgos Loukaides, sent a letter today to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, forwarding the AKEL Parliamentary Group’s request from the Attorney General of the Republic that he hands over to Parliament the report on the black spy van of the independent criminal investigator, regarding the possibility of criminal offences having been committed in relation to violations of the constitutional right to privacy, confidentiality of communication and related rights through a mobile wiretapping/interception unit of electronic devices.

The letter is attached in its entirety:

“I hereby forward to you a demand from the Parliamentary Group of AKEL that you send, in your institutional capacity as Speaker of the House of Representatives, a letter to the Attorney General of the Republic, requesting that the findings of the independent criminal investigator Mr. Elias Stefanos be handed to you, regarding the possibility of any criminal offences having been committed in relation to violations of the constitutional right to privacy, privacy of communication and related rights through mobile electronic wiretapping/interception devices.

The submission of the report must be carried out in accordance with parliamentary procedures and the practice followed in the past to ensure the confidentiality of the documents that are submitted, according to which the documents in question are not communicated to Members of Parliament, but are kept in a special room in the Parliament building, to which Members have access for the purpose of studying the documents in question.
