AKEL pays tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide

AKEL pays tribute and honors the victims of the Armenian genocide committed by the Neo-Turks in the period 1915-1923. We join our voice with the international community in condemning the horrific crime committed against the Armenian nation which represents a dark page in humanity’s history. We express our full respect to the people of Armenia, to the Armenians of the Diaspora, but also to the Armenian community of our homeland.
AKEL unites its voice with the struggle of the Armenian nation for the universal recognition and memory of the Genocide. All the states of the world should proceed to its recognition. Defending historical memory and truth is a tool to prevent the recurrence of such heinous crimes being committed in the future.
At the same time, AKEL condemns the Turkish state’s continuing refusal to recognize the historical truth and genocide of the Armenians. We express our solidarity with the militants and activists inside Turkey who are being persecuted fighting for the recognition of the Genocide.
