The President’s declaration confirms that the Christodoulides government won’t assume responsibility for the disaster

28 July 2025, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

President Christodoulides’ declaration confirmed that his government will not assume any responsibility for the enormous disaster that has befallen the country. For the negligence, lack of organization and coordination, for the repudiation of the government’s statements about the state’s supposed readiness. For all the shortcomings that reflect not only on the state in general, but also on his own government in particular. No one is resigning, no one is being dismissed, and no one in the Presidential Palace is listening to the emphatic demands society has been sending out.

President Christodoulides’ verbal admissions and apologies will remain nothing more than communication tactical tricks so long as the Ministers who, in recent days, not only assured us that everything was running like clockwork but also provoked society with their statements, remain in their positions. Does Mr. Christodoulides really believe that the Ministers responsible can remain in their positions?
