AKEL congratulates “Antilogos” Theatre for its international distinction

10 October 2022, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

AKEL conveys its warm congratulations to the theatre group “Antilogos” for its second consecutive award and distinction from the MALTEPE Istanbul International Theatre Festival. After the historic award given to the “Antilogos” theatre by the same International Festival in 2021 (Director’s award to Kostas Silvestros and first male role award, half of which went to George Kyriakou and Izel Seylani for the production “Waiting for Gondo”), “Antilogos” theatre was awarded again this year, for two productions:

One production with the Festival’s “Best Performance” award for the production “Don’t Shoot the Kite” by the award-winning author Ferride Tsitsekoglou, in a theatrical adaptation by Andris Theodotou and directed by Demetris Degaitis. The other award for second female role in a performance, went to Christina Christofia for her role in the historical play “1964” by Michalis Papadopoulos and directed by Alexia Papalazarou.

AKEL congratulates all the theatre companies from Cyprus and elsewhere who participated in this internationally renowned institution.

The organisers of the Festival and the cultural creators are with consistency sending the message of the value of Art as a force for peace, unity and reconciliation.
