Statement by the AKEL Political Bureau member H.Polykarpou on the freezing of the foreclosure of primary family homes and small commercial premises

The stand taken by the Anastasiades-DISY government on the freezing of the sale of primary family homes and small business premises confirms that society is confronting a government that deliberately protects the arbitrariness of the banks.

A government that resorts to obfuscation and non-transparency, concealing data and letters sent from the European Central Bank when these letters do not suit its own narrative.

A Government that refuses to respect the majority in Parliament, a government that only serves the interests of the banks.

AKEL will not accept the attempt to denigrate the right to housing. In the coming period, it will again take the initiative to change the legislative framework seeking to protect borrowers from the illegal and abusive actions of the banks.
