The international community should not remain a spectator in the face of the Israeli raid on Jenin
The refugee camp in Jenin in the occupied by Israel West Bank was subjected to relentless shelling and military intervention by the Israeli army the day before yesterday, resulting in at least 10 Palestinians being killed, dozens injured and over 100 kidnapped.
The refugee camp sheltered Palestinian refugees, who were forced out of their homes and properties in 1948 and effectively, 14,000 people lived crammed into a space of less than half a square kilometre. The occupation army has reportedly already forcibly expelled 3 000 Palestinians.
The international community cannot remain a spectator again. Impunity cannot continue. It must demand an immediate end to the Israeli incursion and an end to the longest occupation.
AKEL reiterates its full solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people and calls on the Cypriot government to condemn the attack.
