The government is primarily responsible for taking scientifically substantiated measures without improvisations and sloppiness
Statement by AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Stefanos Stefanou on the increase in coronavirus cases
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 16th October 2020, Nicosia
The sharp increase in coronavirus cases is a great concern with regards the state of the public health system and in general. The government must brief the people whether it continues to consult the scientific team and experts on the measures demanded or whether it is improvising.
The answer to the current situation is not complacency, neither denying the existence of the virus, nor exaggerations and contradictory decisions, which end up undermining citizens’ trust in the implementation of protective measures.
The need for every citizen to show individual and social responsibility to combat the pandemic is given. But that does not negate the government’s primary responsibility for taking scientifically substantiated measures at all levels, without any improvisations and sloppiness.
