Once again the parliamentary lobby of the banks and hedge funds has blocked the protection of borrowers as guaranteed by the Constitution and the acquis communautaire.

The Democratic Rally DISY party and the parties of the Christodoulides coalition government determined the outcome by yet again blocking the restoration of the right of borrowers to access to justice. It is really a sad fact that the leaders of the parties supporting the government attacked this proposal from the podium of Parliament by projecting alarmist arguments and engaging in scaremongering. This is a new stab in the back for the thousands of families and small businessmen who live under the threat of their home/business premise being sold off by the banks and hedge funds.

Society is being crushed by poverty, rents, interest rates and the threat of foreclosures. But for the DISY and Christodoulides coalition government front, everything is being sacrificed so that the interests of the banks are served above all.
