Events in honour and memory of martyrs Dervis Ali Kavazoglou and Costas Mishaoulis

AKEL and the People’s Movement of the Left will honour this year too the heroes and martyrs of Greek-Turkish friendship, Dervis Ali Kavazoglou and Kostas Mishaoulis. The two comrades, militants in the same struggle and friends were cowardly murdered on 11th April, 1965 by the extreme-right-wing Turkish Cypriot terrorist organization TMT.
The sacrifice of Kavazoglou – Mishaoulis is the symbol of the common struggle of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots for the salvation of our common country. It is the symbol of rapprochement between the two communities in Cyprus.
The events in memory and honour for the two heroes and martyrs of our people are a reminder of the duty to continue the struggle against the Turkish occupation. They are a rallying call for the continuation of the struggle until the termination of the Turkish occupation and for the reunification of our country.
AKEL continues to struggle and devote all its forces for a peaceful solution to the Cyprus problem, to liberate our country from the occupation, terminate the colonization of the occupied territories and reunite our country and people. AKEL will continue the struggle for a solution based on the relevant UN resolutions and the High Level Agreements of 1977 and 1979, which will provide for a bizonal, bicommunal federation with political equality as set out by the International Organisation; for a single state with a single sovereignty, a single citizenship and a single international personality, with the human rights and fundamental freedoms of the people to be safeguarded.
Every Cypriot patriot is called upon to participate in this struggle and all together struggle for the vindication of our Cyprus. This is the best memorial for both of our compatriots who fell victims of bigotry, nationalism and chauvinism.
AKEL calls on the people with their mass participation to join the events in honour and memory of our heroes and martyrs Kavazoglou and Mishaouli, that will reach a climax on Sunday 5th April, 2015 in the village of Dali.
From their sacrifice we draw strength to continue the anti-occupation struggle.

9:45 a.m: Tribute to the memory of Costas Mishaoulis, St. Constantine and Helen Cemetry, Nicosia. Laying of wreaths.
10: 00p.m: Demonstration by Youth from Pera Chorio to Dali village.
10:45 a.m: Rally in front of the Club of the People’s Movement in Dali.
– Address by the Deputy President of the DEV-İŞ Hasan Felek.
– Speech by Andros Kyprianou, General Secreatry of the C.C. of AKEL .
– Short cultural program with Marios Constantinou
– March towards the Turkish cemetery of Dali.
