ELAM MP imitating ‘Golden Dawn’ behaviour and engaging in bullying

 

Statement by AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Giorgos Koukoumas on yesterday’s far-right ELAM MP’s attack

Yesterday’s attack by far-right ELAM MP Andreas Themistocleous on a Green Party parliamentary assistant during the meeting of the Parliamentary Education Affairs Committee must see a strict response on the part of Parliament.

This ELAM Member of Parliament is, of course, well-known for engaging in such vulgar and insulting behaviour from the time he was a Member of Parliament of ruling DISY Democratic Rally party. Now, he is imitating the behaviour of the ‘Golden Dawn’ party and engaging in bullying.

Parliament must send out a strong message that such behaviour will not be tolerated by anyone and has no place in Parliament. The Ethics Committee must do the right thing.
