AKEL on misinterpretation of its position on the Cyprus problem
Statement by the General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL Andros Kyprianou
AKEL Press Office, 29th November 2016, Nicosia
In reports in the Greek press my statements are presented in a way that can be subject to misinterpretation. To this end, I want to reiterate what I said in my statement yesterday:
“An effort to arrive within range of an agreement on all issues of the internal aspects of the Cyprus problem must be made, so that an international conference can be convened, in order to discuss the huge issue of guarantees. This international conference must be prepared so as to ensure that the chances of its success are greater than those of failure. Mr. Tsipras has pledged to take action to this end in the coming days.”
That is, in the direction of ensuring that a possible international conference will have more chances of success, and not failure.
