AKEL denounces the rhetoric and behaviour of MP A. Themistocleous in the Parliament

The expression of vulgar racist and homophobic rhetoric by MP Andreas Themistocleous, combined with his thuggish behaviour in Parliament, is a shameful act for public life. We recall that such rhetoric does not constitute a point of view, but a criminal offence whose expression should have been stopped from the floor of Parliament.

It is obvious that Themistocles is attempting to drag Parliament’s entire functioning down to his level, which is none other than the mire of racism and bullying bravado. The responsibilities of those who have placed this person in the country’s political life, who, we should remind you, was a Member of Parliament for both DISY and far-right ELAM are immense.

AKEL, as it has already stated, will table the matter about the behaviour of this particular MP on the basis of Parliament’s Rules of Procedure.
