Statements by the General Secretary of AKEL S.Stefanou:

11 June 2024

The General Secretary of AKEL Stefanos Stefanou congratulated in his statements the Election Service and all those who worked for the completion of Sunday’s multiple electoral procedure. A procedure that as he pointed out was unprecedented for Cyprus, adding that the task of conducting the elections smoothly has been achieved.

AKEL has elected one MEP in these elections, Giorgos Georgiou, who has accumulated valuable experience from the operation and activity of the European Parliament, adding that this experience will be used to continue “to make AKEL a force of assertion first and foremost for Cyprus and its people through the European Parliament, but more generally through its actions in the EU”.

At the same time, the AKEL MEP noted that AKEL – Left – Social Alliance will continue with its presence in the European Parliament to assert the best for the societies, states and the peoples of Europe, “because we really need to do a lot in the current days so that we can ensure better days, both for Europe and for our Cyprus”.

Wishing “all the very best” to Giorgos Georgiou, the General added Secretary of AKEL noted that the party will seek cooperation with the other MEPs of Cyprus, because “above all, for us, Cyprus and our people come first, and for our country and people we will continue to give every ounce of strength so that we can assert the best for our country and its people”.
