There can be no upgrading of Turkey-EU relations as long as Turkey doesn’t fulfill its obligations towards Cyprus

Information published today in “Phileleftheros” newspaper reports that the European Commission has initiated a procedure to upgrade the European Union’s Customs Union with Turkey.

Such a development, when Turkey is refusing to fulfill its obligations towards the Republic of Cyprus based on the existing customs union, violates every rule of procedure of the European Union and any notion of law.

We expect the Government to take all the necessary steps to prevent such a possibility from happening.
