Today the General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, paid a visit to the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEBE), during which he had a meeting with its President Stavros Stavrou and members of the KEBE Executive Committee.

In their statements after the meeting, Stefanos Stefanou and Stavros Stavrou described the meeting as constructive and comprehensive.

As the General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL said, “during the meeting we had the opportunity to exchange specific views on numerous issues, whether they concern the Cyprus economy and Cypriot business, or issues related to the reform of the tax system, which are topical. AKEL’s position considers that the reform of the tax system is an absolute necessity. We also discussed the Cyprus problem, because its solution is what will bring lasting peace and stability, because the economy and society need stability and it will certainly open up great prospects for Cypriot business.”

Stefanos Stefanou stressed that AKEL has always approached the economy as the necessary factor to have a developed country, a developed state and of course a strong welfare state.

For there to be a developed welfare state, it must first of all be based on a strong and dynamic economy that can liberate and create the necessary means for a strong welfare state. It has correctly been said by Stavros that a strong and powerful economy, a dynamic and healthy business always go hand in hand with the well-being and prosperity of society.

Finally, Stefanos Stefanou assured that the dialogue with KEBE will continue and that a new meeting on the reform of the tax system will be held soon.
