The Ministry of Health must take immediate measures to kick start public hospitals

Statement by AKEL Parliamentary Representative Giorgos Loucaides

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 15th April 2020, Nicosia

Today’s front page of daily newspaper Haravgi that “people are dying helpless at home”, unfortunately reflects reality.

This is a reality that has evolved primarily due to the extensive dysfunctioning of public hospitals and their inability to meet the needs of chronic and other patients.

AKEL, without going into the reasons as to how we have reached this situation, calls on the Ministry of Health to take immediate measures to kick start public hospitals, while at the same time ensuring the safety of all patients, regardless of their condition, as well as the safety of healthcare workers in them.
