The message from the mass mobilization of the Turkish Cypriots is a beacon for our common struggle

With the young people at the forefront, thousands of protesters conveyed a message of resistance and struggle last night in favor of the existence of the Turkish Cypriot community, in favour of the democratic and secular character of their community, for the respect of the Turkish Cypriot’s will in the face of outside interventions.
AKEL salutes the action and unity of the progressive Turkish Cypriots at a very critical turning point, both for the community itself, as well as for the course of the Cyprus problem. We assure them that the strong message of mobilization has also reached the Greek Cypriots, further consolidating in this way the common struggle for peace and the reunification of our island. For a Cyprus that belongs to Cypriots, a Cyprus that will be ruled by its people.
We send out the message that AKEL will remain unyielding in the struggle for the reunification of our common homeland, on the basis of a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation with political equality as described in the Resolutions of the United Nations.
