AKEL salutes the work of the bicommunal Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 10th November 2020, Nicosia

AKEL salutes the work of the bi-communal Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage, which tomorrow delivers to society restored parts of the Venetian walls of Nicosia, as well as 19 other sites/monuments all over Cyprus.

Once again, the work of the bi-communal Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage and its Advisory Body, with the assistance of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and major funding from the European Union, is yielding results.

The preservation of our common cultural heritage for the last 12 years, in line with the terms of the mandate the Technical Committee received from the two leaders in 2008, is a work of devotion, love and genuine patriotism. Dozens of people are working together passionately and with a strong belief in a future of mutual respect, mutual understanding and peace. The preservation and protection of Cyprus’ multicultural sites/monuments sends out a powerful message of peaceful and harmonious coexistence of all communities of Cyprus, Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Maronites, Armenians and Latins.

AKEL congratulates the Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage and all those who are working to rescue our country’s common cultural heritage through this very important framework of bi-communal cooperation and construction of a common future for all citizens of Cyprus.
