The government must first explain itself
Statement by AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Yiorgos Koukoumas
Anastasiades and his policies are leading Cyprus on dangerous paths

The government must first explain itself and then make statements on the Cyprus problem.
The Government Spokesman insisted the day before yesterday that Mr. Anastasiades’ idea of a return to the 1960 Constitution, as contained in the President’s written statement, is not a “figure of speech”, nor a simple response to Tatar, but a proposal that has already been on the table from the time of the written statement. Foreign Minister Christodoulides today says it was “more a figure of speech” and that there is no such proposal.
Things are simple. If the government wants to salvage what can be salvaged, it must officially retract the President’s written statement and the Government Spokesman’s statements on this idea, which means the Greek Cypriot side abandoning the High-Level Agreements, the Resolutions of the UN and all the convergences.
However, the essence remains the same. Our homeland is being led to the permanent partition of Cyprus and Mr. Anastasiades and his policies are leading Cyprus on dangerous paths.
