N. Papadopoulos should reply whether he is seeking a bizonal, bicommunal federal solution

DIKO party President N. Papadopoulos must answer, with no ifs and no buts, whether he will seek a bizonal, bicommunal federal solution or whether he too considers this solution worse than the occupation and partition, as EDEK Socialist Party President Mr. Sizopoulos does.

All those circles and forces supporting Mr. Nicolas Papadopoulos reject a bizonal, bicommunal federal solution. However, nor does he himself adopt it in his so-called “new strategy” which is nothing new at all, but a makeshift of failed and old recipes.

If Mr. Sizopoulos was indeed misinterpreted, as he himself claims is the case, then he needs to do nothing more than reply to Mr. Papadopoulos directly, without any ambiguities, no ifs or buts, to the following simple questions:

Will he seek a solution within the parameters of the United Nations, a bizonal, bicommunal federal solution, or does he also believe that bizonal, bicommunal federation is worse than the occupation and partition, as the key force of his  political associates advocate?

Given the fact that for the UN Secretary-General to undertake any new initiative on the Cyprus problem, he sets as a precondition that the two sides prove their readiness for a solution on the basis of the Guterres framework, how will Mr. Nicolas Papadopoulos persuade him to not only revise the UN Secretary-General’s clear position, but also the UN parameters providing for a bizonal, bicommunal federal solution?

Or will perhaps the only thing Mr. Papadopoulos manage to do is lead us to adventures by bringing the Greek Cypriot side into direct conflict with the international community? Such a development, with mathematical precision, will facilitate the Turkish plans and perpetuate, if not finalize the occupation and partition.
