Mr. Anastasiades – this time – must show consistency

According to yesterday’s statements by Mr. Anastasiades, the possibility of a trilateral, joint meeting of the leaders of the two communities with the UN Secretary-General and possibly following that an informal five-party meeting with the presence of the guarantor powers too, provided of course that this is preceded by an agreement on the terms of reference, remains in sight.
From now onwards, President Anastasiades must show consistency and continuity with what he said from the podium of the UN General Assembly. The criticality of the current situation leaves no room neither for any errors, nor regressions. This is the only way to address any provocations and expediencies on the part of Turkey. That’s the only way the prospect of a solution based on principles and bi-communal, bi-communal Federation with political equality can be created.
