Meeting between AKEL and a delegation of the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts

An AKEL delegation headed by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, had a meeting today with a delegation of the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts, headed by the President of the Academy, Dr. Andreas Demetriou.

During the meeting, the Academy referred to the actions and initiatives taken by our country’s highest intellectual Institution, as well as to the urgent need for it to acquire its own premises so that it can fulfil its role and mission.

The General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL expressed his full support to the efforts being made by the Academy for the upgrading of the scientific, intellectual and cultural level of the Republic of Cyprus, stressing the Party’s readiness to intervene in a creative way where and when necessary.

The AKEL delegation included the member of the Party’s Education Committee/AKEL MP, Christos Christofias, and the Head of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Central Committee of AKEL Kostas Kosta.
