Look who’s talking about an assertive policy in the EU – the government!
- Those very forces who were boasting that they had friends in Europe and subsequently were wailing that they were the ones to put the pistol to the temple.
- Those who vote for all the neoliberal policies that have caused and enhanced the big democratic and social deficits in Europe.
- Those whose fraternal parties in the European People’s Party are sharing power in governments together with the Far Right.
- Those who, because of their non-existence in the European Parliament, have seen independent bodies classify them as “dinosaurs”.
Indeed today, we understand better the reason why they are in this category: through DISY MP Nikos Nouri they are deliberately distorting the words of AKEL MEP Neoklis Sylikiotis and they are lying as N.Sylikiotis never said that AKEL will abstain from the procedure of electing the new president of the European Commission, as the representative of governing DISY PARTY says.
AKEL MEP N. Sylikiotis simply said that the Left disagreed with the “top candidate” process, as many others too disagree with this process, including Macron. Evidently, DISY classifies Macron too among the Eurosceptics.
We have said and shall say it once again now: the EU needs changes in favour of the peoples and the vulnerable. It, therefore, needs to change the policies of the Right, which cause the problems that are plaguing Europe.
