Joint Statement of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Political Parties: “We call the Leaders to send a bicommunal rescue team to Turkey”

AKEL along with other Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties co-sign a Joint Statement under the title: “We call the Leaders to send a bicommunal rescue team to Turkey”. The Joint Statement follows:
“In view of the human tragedy that has befallen Turkey as a result of the catastrophic earthquakes, and especially in view of the fact that thousands of lives are at dire risk under the rubbles, including some Cypriot chıldren the GC and TC undersigning political parties:
We urgently call upon the Leaders of the two communities through the Bicommunal Technical Committee for Humanitarian Matters to send a joint bicommunal team of rescuers to Turkey to try and save the lives of people at risk.
Such an inspiring and effective move would constitute the best Confidence Building measure that the two communities could take and implement at such a critical moment concerning the lives of Cypriot children.”
