It is a historic obligation of both sides to proceed to a solution

Statement by Stefanos Stefanou, AKEL C.C. Spokesperson

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 2nd March 2018, Nicosia

A great deal was said in yesterday’s live television interview given by Mr. Akinci. We will focus only on the most basic: Firstly, that from the solution and peace we will all win, while if we don’t manage to do so we will all lose. Secondly, a meeting must be held between the leaders of the two Cypriot sides to clarify things about how they will proceed to a solution of the Cyprus problem. It is indeed, a historic obligation of both.

Both sides must move on to the line that has already been drawn by the UN Secretary-General in his recent Report. That is, negotiations should resume from the point where they had been interrupted at Crans Montana, with interconnected negotiation of the core outstanding issues.
