Cyprus and its people want MEP’s who assert, not applaud

Some people are evidently unaware of what the vast majority of Cypriot society, just like other European countries, is going through. They don’t understand why in Cyprus and in Europe the peoples are asserting fundamental progressive changes and different socio-economic policies, for the benefit of the many.

Today, the European Union counts 95 million poor people at the same time as the billionaires across the EU have increased their wealth by half a trillion euros in the last three years. The mastermind behind these policies is none other than the European Right, the European People’s Party, with the participation hand in hand of both Mr Christodoulides and DISY within its ranks.

Cyprus and its people, just like all the peoples of Europe, want MEP’s who will assert and won’t applaud whatever decisions are taken by the EU. For example, with the proposals submitted by the MEPs of AKEL and the Group of the European Left regarding the Community budget new programmes to combat paediatric cancer and a socio-economic mapping programme on the unequal access of children in the EU to quality cancer treatments were funded. At the same time, the European Right leads the way in ever more billions of EU money being channelled into the war industries.

We have different perceptions, different priorities and different visions.

On 9 June, the people of Cyprus will have their say.

A strong AKEL-Left-Social Alliance means a strong force of assertion for Cyprus and its people.
