Courageous struggle for freedom of expression vindicated in occupied areas

AKEL welcomes the development regarding the acquittal of the Turkish Cypriot couple and our compatriots Koray Basdogrultmaci and Cinel Senem Husseyin, who were charged by the occupation regime in connection with the exercise of their inalienable political right to freedom of expression of their political views on the Cyprus problem.
The vindication of the struggle of our Turkish Cypriot compatriots is first and foremost the result of their own courageous and militant life stance. The bi-communal solidarity expressed by many organized groups and activists was also supportive. As it is known AKEL raised the whole issue before the institutions and bodies of the EU as well.
