Citizens are called upon to judge how much truth there is in Anastasiades’ current pledges and to what extent they can trust him

Statement by Yiorgos Loucaides, AKEL Political Bureau member and AKEL-Left-New Forces Parliamentary Representative

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 13th January 2018, Nicosia

Regardless of the substance and responsibility for the haircut on bank deposits imposed in our country, it is now unquestionable that Mr. Anastasiades has never told the truth about the unlawful haircut on insured deposits, which, according to recent statements of former Eurogroup President, was proposed by Anastasiades himself.

As a result, it is quite natural that people are wondering how much truth is there in Mr. Anastasiades’ narrative about what actually happened in Crans Montana, which also determined the future of the next generations, when the UN Secretary-General recorded exactly the opposite narrative than his own?

In conclusion, bearing in mind the truth about Mr. Anastasiades’ pre-election pledges he made five years ago, citizens are called upon to judge how much truth is there in his current pledges, to what extent they can trust him and what expectations they can have from him.
