Under no circumstances must Cyprus agree to a possible opening of chapters in return for any services by Turkey to EU states in relation to the refugee issue
Written statement of Georgos Loucaides, AKEL C.C Spokesperson
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 13th March 2016, Nicosia
In view of the forthcoming visit of the President of the European Council Donald Tusk to Cyprus, AKEL reiterates its position that under no circumstances must the Republic of Cyprus agree to a possible opening of chapters in return for any services by Turkey to European states in relation to the refugee issue.
The stance of the European Union is unacceptable, both in relation to the very way it is addressing the refugee issue, as well as in relation with the rewards it wants to grant to Turkey.
