AKEL responds to the Democratic Party DIKO
27 June 2022, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia
Instead of asking AKEL about “zero troops, zero guarantees”, DIKO should ask the candidate it has opted to support, former Foreign Minister Mr. Christodoulides.
In an interview in 2017 after Crans Montana, Mr. Christodoulides was saying the following: “Zero troops from day one is not our position. This is unfeasible and Greece agrees too…Our position is the abolition of the Treaty of Guarantee and intervention rights from day one and a timetable for the withdrawal of Turkish troops.”
The allegations that are related to former Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias have been repeatedly and specifically refuted even by the former Greek Prime Minister and we do not feel the need to go back on the issue.
