13 December 2023, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

With regard to the controversial positions on the part of the Christodoulides government, which have been recorded in recent days, regarding the political position taken by the Republic of Cyprus within the context of the debate on the promotion of the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA), the AKEL – Left – New Forces Parliamentary Group is proceeding to register an ex-officio issue for debate in the Parliamentary Internal Affairs Committee.

For AKEL, journalist freedoms are also political freedoms and therefore non-negotiable.
