AKEL is ready, in a serious, responsible and patriotic way to contribute towards a correct solution

Subject to and pending a full and thorough briefing by the President of the Republic in relation to the New York meeting, we consider:
– The fact that the negotiation procedure is continuing, as well as the effort for a comprehensive, just under the circumstances, viable and functional solution that will liberate and reunify our homeland and people, is a positive fact.
– The continuation of the negotiation forces all the involved parties to face up to their responsibilities for the submission of proposals that will be based on the agreed framework and the principles of the solution of the Cyprus problem. The discussion of the Security and guaranties issue forces first and foremost Turkey to face up to its responsibility. Turkey is called upon in practice to help for the achievement of such a solution.
We must, through a collective effort, wage the battle for a correct solution; the battle for a correct solution is the battle of Cyprus. Now we need the effort to ensure the greatest possible unity and collectivity, which is primarily the responsibility of the President of the Republic, but for which all political forces are also called upon to contribute. AKEL, as always, is ready, in a serious, responsible and patriotic way to contribute towards this end.
