AKEL denounces the new massacre of Palestinians by Israel

The new crime committed by the State of Israel against the Palestinian people did not happen by mistake and can in no way be justified by supporters of Netanyahu everywhere and his criminal government. The fire that they caused by bombing refugee tents in a supposedly safe neighborhood in Rafah burned women and children and the elderly in the middle of the night. These are people who had been displaced for the umpteenth time in Israel’s 234 days of continuous war against Gaza.

In defiance of the rulings of the International Court of Justice, the criminal government of Israel considers that it can continue – as it has done for decades – to flagrantly violate international law and go unpunished for the ongoing mass crimes it is committing against the Palestinian people.

AKEL denounces in the strongest possible terms the new massacre, as well as the ongoing crimes settlers are carrying out under the protection of the Israeli army and police against the Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. We call on the international community to use all the means at its disposal to put an end to Israel’s ruthlessness and brutality. As well as not to permit Israel to proceed with its unprecedented bill proposal to declare UNRWA a terrorist organization.

The only way forward is a political solution and peace through the recognition of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, the recognition of the national rights of the Palestinian people and ending the longest occupation in modern history.
