The government ruling forces must finally show tangible results

According to the statements of stakeholders after the President of the Republic’s meeting with trade unions and patients on the future of public hospitals and the National Health Scheme, the President of the Republic undertook specific commitments in their presence.

Six years after the President pledged in writing to ensure the upgrading and modernisation of the public health sector through the July 2016 agreement, citizens expect, even belatedly, these commitments to begin to be fulfilled in practice.

Citizens expect the government ruling forces to abandon their empty talk and euphemisms and at long last present and show tangible results! Only then will the sincerity of the President’s intentions and statements be verified.

AKEL, with consistency and perseverance, will continue to defend the public health sector, remaining consistent to its position that only through a modern and sustainable public health system can we safeguard the character and effective implementation of the National Health Scheme, to the benefit of society and patients.
