AKEL registers the Pandora Papers issue for debate in Parliament

Following the publication of the investigation (Pandora Papers) carried out by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and the references to the Republic of Cyprus, AKEL will register the matter for ex officio examination in the Parliamentary Control Committee next Thursday.

More specifically, briefing will be requested on the possible actions the competent authorities of the Republic of Cyprus have taken or intend to take in relation to what has emerged from the publication of the investigation (Pandora Papers), as well as the Republic of Cyprus’ position regarding the European Commission’s forthcoming legislative initiatives to combat tax fraud, tax evasion and money laundering.
