AKEL on the historic award to the “Antilogos” theatre at the International Maltepe Theatre Festival in Istanbul

AKEL extends its warmest congratulates to the “Antilogos” theatre group for the prestigious award received by the protagonists of the performance of the adaptation of the play “Waiting for Godot” at the Maltepe International Theatre Festival in Istanbul, Turkey.  The first prize for directing was awarded to Kostas Sylvestro and the first prize for the first male role prize, was shared by both Giorgos Kyriakou and Izel Seilani.  The award has a special historical significance as it is the first time that a Cypriot theatre group has been awarded in Turkey.

The organizers of the Festival and the awarded artists conveyed a message about the value of Art as a force for peace, unity and reconciliation, as well as sending a powerful message that Cyprus is one and must remain united and independent.
