AKEL denounces Turkish warships harassments in Cyprus EEZ

We denounce in the strongest possible terms Turkey’s premeditated and unacceptable action to harass the drillship of ENI, which was heading for a predetermined point in order to continue its research work within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Cyprus Republic. This represents a provocation against the sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprus.
We call on the government to take all necessary steps to safeguard our sovereign rights and exploratory work within our EEZ.
This new unacceptable incident underlines to the international community, but also to all of us within Cyprus, the need for a correct solution based on unswerving principles that will safeguard the security and sovereignty of a free and reunited federal Republic of Cyprus.
