AKEL’s clear position on the issue of guarantees

The solution of the Cyprus problem must provide for the termination of the anachronistic system of guarantees. The solution must not provide for any unilateral right of intervention and must not give the possibility to any third power/force to interfere in our country’s internal affairs.
The issue of guarantees will be resolved at a representative international conference, under the auspices of the United Nations, which will be convened if and when we get within range of an agreement on the internal aspects of the Cyprus problem.
