AKEL – CTP Delegations meet to discuss Cyprus problem

cyprus NATO cprWithin the framework of the meetings of the Joint Committee on the Cyprus problem, an AKEL delegation had a meeting today with the Republican Turkish Party (CTP). The delegation of CTP included leading party officials, Muhittin Tolga Özsağlam and Fazilet Özdenefe. On the part of AKEL the delegation included AKEL C.C. Spokesperson and member of the Political Bureau Stefanos Stefanou and the member of the Central Committee of AKEL and of the Cyprus Problem Office Stavri Kalopsidiotou.

The relevant Committee reaffirmed that the solution of the Cyprus problem as soon as possible is a necessity. For that reason, as it was pointed out, we hope the ongoing process will lead to tangible results. The two parties, AKEL and CTP continue to support every constructive effort in the negotiations. In conclusion, the two Parties express the hope that the direct talks will lead to a positive outcome, namely the achievement of a mutually agreed comprehensive solution of the Cyprus problem within the agreed framework. The Joint Committee of the two Parties will continue its work towards this end.
