Bicommunal event co-organized by AKEL and CTP

A discussion on the developments surrounding the Cyprus problem took place on Wednesday 3rd September, which was organized by the District Committees of AKEL and the Republican Turkish Party in Gönyeli.

Keynote speakers at the event were Stefanos Stefanou AKEL Nicosia – Kyrenia District Secretary and member of the Political Bureau of AKEL, and Muhittin Tolga Ozsaglam, Foreign Relations Secretary and Board Member of the Republican Turkish Party.

The two speakers in their speeches focused on the submission of views and positions of both parties on several important issues relating to the Cyprus problem, whilst there were also references to the historical development of the Cyprus problem.

The event was attended by many Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, many of whom participated in the discussion that followed the presentations, with questions and opinions. The discussion revolved mainly around the developments on the Cyprus problem, the relations between the two parties and the prospect of a solution of the Cyprus problem.

The event – discussion in Gönyeli, which was co-organized by the Nicosia District Committees of AKEL and the Republican Turkish Party, is the third in a row. It was preceded by the discussions held at Akaki and Morphou. In the period ahead, according to the plan that has been drawn up by the two parties in order to inform their members, but also society in general on the Cyprus problem, another open debate has been scheduled in the free areas
