We reject Memoranda recipes for the solution of the Cyprus problem’s funding

There is once again a lot of talk about the economic cost of the solution of the Cyprus problem, in a way that creates the logical question whether this matter is being raised by certain circles and forces so that we should accept the continuation of the occupation, in the name of the cost of the solution.

Those that on every opportunity are cultivating syndromes of fear among our people also seem to completely ignore the significant benefits that will emerge for the Cyprus economy from a viable and workable solution of the Cyprus problem.

In addition, is it or is it not a figure of speech that certain circles and forces, who are constantly calling on the people to make sacrifices and who are to this day socializing the banks’ losses, immediately raise the issue of the cost of the solution whenever there is a reference to the solution of the Cyprus problem?

For AKEL, the cost is of course an important aspect of the solution and ways of addressing this issue must be studied. AKEL stresses that while on the one hand the cost of the solution cannot be an excuse for not working for it, on the other hand, Memoranda recipes for the funding of the solution will not be accepted by AKEL.
