Without negotiations there can’t be any perspective, nor even a hope for a solution to the Cyprus problem

Statement by Eleni Mavrou, Member of the Political Bureau of AKEL

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 1st April 2017, Nicosia

akel cyprus cprWe remind the leader of the Democratic Party DIKO Mr. N. Papadopoulos of his repeated statements that the Turkish side was seeking a pretext to break off the talks. On this occasion, this pretext was given by those who voted in the House of Representatives in favour or facilitated in any way the proposal tabled by ELAM for the celebration of the Enosis referendum in schools.

We will not be participating in the attempt, possibly by certain circles and forces, to lead to the ultimate discontinuation of the negotiations.

AKEL is fully aware that without negotiations there can’t be any perspective, nor even a hope for a solution to the Cyprus problem, for the reunification of our country and the liberation of Cyprus.
