Why didn’t Anastasiades dispute the 2017 UN report?

Statement by AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Giorgos Koukoumas

15 November 2021, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

There is, among other things, a crucial – and relentless for Mr. Anastasiades – question surrounding the discussion about the Crans Montana Conference:

Why after for so many years has Mr. Anastasiades not taken the slightest action to dispute the Report submitted by the UN Secretary General on what happened at Crans Montana which exonerates the occupying power Turkey and apportions responsibility on the two communities for the collapse of the conference?

Why has the government made no move whatsoever to put before the international organisation the narrative it is saying in Cyprus about the Crans Montana conference?

Surely, it would be more useful if Mr. Anastasiades and his government, instead of indulging in futile attempts to vindicate themselves, were to focus their attention on the current situation of the Cyprus problem, which finds itself at its most difficult and dangerous point since 1974.
