Why are they preventing the Auditor General from continuing his investigation into the ‘golden passport’ scheme?
Statement by AKEL Spokesperson Stefanos Stefanou replies to ruling DISY party

Just the day before yesterday, ruling DISY party was literally saying about Al Jazeera’s report that “we will not give more substance to an investigation of dubious intentions and we hope that AKEL will realize this and do so, even belatedly.” That is, without any shame, it addresses an invitation to cover up things, as the Anastasiades government has been doing for years with regards the golden passports industry.
AKEL replies the following. A thorough investigation must be carried out into all the cases of the investors that were issued passports, into law firms, intermediaries and businessmen. If the government ruling forces and DISY party feel at ease, then why are they preventing the Auditor General from continuing his investigation into the ‘golden passports’? What are they afraid of? Who do they want to cover up?
