US Ambassador’s unacceptable tweet

Yesterday’s statement by the United States Ambassador via Twitter was unfortunate and breached diplomatic ethics.

The attempt to elicit a negative reaction from Cypriot citizens regarding the visit of the President of the Republic to Moscow is an unacceptable action that goes beyond diplomatic customs.

The Republic of Cyprus is duty bound to have as its principal concern the need to serve its own interests and that is why it cannot be under the guardianship or even the criticism of the representative of any third country.
