The Turkish machinations are continuously gaining ground due to the Greek Cypriot side’s mistaken tactics pursued in the negotiations and its passive belated reaction to Ankara’s plans.
The absence of a positive and constructive stance by Turkey with the submission of divisive positions in the negotiations, Ankara’s focusing on a plan B for the finalization of partition through the upgrading of the pseudo-state from an illegal to an unrecognized state and the international community’s tolerance towards Turkish intransigence and provocation, can only be effectively combated if President Anastasiades changes direction in the tactics he is following in the talks on the Cyprus problem.
We can recover our side’s credibility only through adhering to a steadfast and consistent position that will respect and will not nullify the convergences achieved between Christofias and Talat and at the same time through the implementation of an assertive, pre-emptive and multidimensional diplomacy to put an end to the Turkish machinations and plans.
