Turkey’s actions a provocation for the whole Cypriot people

On the day of the anniversary secessionist proclamation of the pseudo-state in the occupied areas, Ankara’s provocative actions today provoke not only the lawful inhabitants of Famagusta but the entire Cypriot people too and multiply the frustration and anger.
Today’s talks between Erdogan-Tatar show a contempt for international law and the Resolutions of the United Nations and torpedo every effort to find a solution to the Cyprus problem at a time when the Secretary General of the UN is exploring the possibility of undertake a new effort on the Cyprus problem.
We send out the message that AKEL will remain relentless in the struggle for the reunification of our common homeland, on the basis of a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation with political equality as described in the UN Resolutions. For a Cyprus that belongs to Cypriots, for a Cyprus where its people will be the real masters.
