The Local Club of the Peoples Movement in the village of Pera Orinis has been vandalised

          STATEMENT OF AKEL NICOSIA-KYRENIA DISTRICT ORGANISATION

Last Saturday 17th May sinister forces under the cover of darkness once again vandalized the local club of the People’s Movement of the Left in the village of Pera Orinis.

Prior to the annual event that the organizations of the Peoples Movement were due to hold on Sunday to honour the memory of comrade Andreas Sakkas, who was murdered for his political beliefs by the armed masked men of Grivas, the forces nostalgic of the criminal past of the extreme-right smeared the walls of the Local Club and offices with obscene slogans. This is the second time they have done so in only a few weeks.

We denounce the action of the extreme-right forces acting in darkness. We call on all democratic citizens to stand resolutely oppose them in the forthcoming elections too, so as to send out the proper message to all those who long for the Junta and the EOKA B organization and to all those who are providing them with political cover.

This act of vandalism against the property of the Peoples Movement of the Left has been reported to the Police.
