The government must respond on whether it will join Trump’s “Board of Peace”

10 February 2026, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

President Christodoulides and his government must stop hiding and give an answer on whether they will join the “Board of Peace” set up by Trump. It is worrying that the government is discussing the possibility of joining this organization, which aims to undermine and replace the United Nations.

The government must take into account the disagreements and objections to this venture by the US and Trump, as expressed by many states and governments in the EU and all over the world. Above all, however, it must consider the consequences and dangers that the further undermining of international law and the UN will have for the Republic of Cyprus, given that our country bases its existence, its foreign policy and its struggle for liberation on international law and the Resolutions of the United Nations.
